Risk for Myocardial Infarction Doubles After TIA, Mayo Clinic Study

March 24, 2011 — The risk for myocardial infarction (MI) among patients who have already had a transient ischemic attack (TIA) but who have no known coronary artery disease (CAD) is approximately double that of the general population, at about 1% per year, a new study shows.
