Retinal Changes Seen With Antimalarial Drugs, Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) Study

MedPageToday -- The visual consequences of retinopathy associated with antimalarial drug use can be progressive and devastating, a retrospective study showed. The most common type of visual field abnormality was isolated central loss, which was seen in 10 of 16 women who had been treated with hydroxychloroquine or chloroquine, Richard G. Weleber, MD, of Oregon Health and Science University in Portland, and colleagues reported in the January issue of Archives of Ophthalmology.
