Participants in the 2006 Komen National Race are making a direct contribution to the Washington, D.C. community. A minimum of $1 million of the Komen National Race for the Cure(R) proceeds remain in the metropolitan Washington, D.C. community -- including Virginia and Maryland -- to provide funding for breast health and breast cancer education, screening and treatment programs for the medically underserved.
