MONTREAL, June 17 /PRNewswire/ - Quebec will be well represented this year at BIO 2005, with a delegation representing 47 different Quebec companies and organizations, who will be participating in this major world-class biotechnology convention, taking place from June 19 to June 22, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
According to a press release issued by the Quebec Premier's Office, Mr. Jean Charest will be participating in the official opening ceremony of the Convention on June 19, and in that of the Canadian pavilion the following day. The Quebec delegation is located in the latter. Meanwhile, the Minister of Economic Development, Innovation and Export Trade, Mr. Claude Bechard, will be taking advantage of his presence at BIO 2005 on June 21 to meet with the executive officers in the Quebec delegation.
"BIO 2005 constitutes an excellent opportunity for BIOQuebec to promote the expertise of our Quebec companies with numerous life science industry investors and partners", underlined the Executive Director of BIOQuebec, Mr. Perry Niro.
Nearly 18,000 visitors, from about sixty countries, as well as more than 1,000 exhibitors are expected in Philadelphia, an American city recognized for its thriving pharmaceutical industry. Last year, the Quebec delegation reaped more than $56 million in financing, research and distribution agreements during BIO 2004, held in San Francisco.
