Prodesse, Inc. announced today that its Hexaplex® and Hexaplex® Plus assays both detect the avian influenza H5N1 virus as well as a number of other avian and swine influenza viruses. Combined with Prodesse’s newest real time product for respiratory virus detection, ProFlu-1™, which is designed to exclude the H5N1 virus, labs can design testing algorithms which will quite effectively isolate potential cases of H5N1 infection. Such cases can then be referred to local governmental health authorities for specific influenza strain identification.
