PolyRemedy, Inc. Launches HealSmart™ Hyaluronic Acid Dressing Enhancement

BOSTON, MA--(Marketwired - April 15, 2013) - PolyRemedy, Inc., provider of the HealSmart Personalized Woundcare System, announces the enhancement of its HealSmart Antimicrobial Dressings with the addition of Hyaluronic Acid (HA), a naturally occurring solution in the body known to assist in wound healing.

HA is an FDA cleared substance. It has been shown to aid in cell proliferation and migration, and its constructive role in wound healing has been studied by many physicians. A systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials for HA in aggregate show that HA derivatives accelerate the healing process in burns, epithelial surgical wounds, and chronic wounds.(1)

Additional studies indicate that in order to optimize its wound healing properties, HA is best utilized in a sterilized, electrospun wound dressing(2) -- which is the process PolyRemedy uses to create HealSmart Antimicrobial Dressings with HA (patent pending).

“Hyaluronic Acid has clearly shown benefits to wound healing,” said David Richard, Senior Vice President. “We believe usage has been limited because existing solutions are high cost, require purchase of a separate product, and when applied independently may limit the benefits of an advanced dressing. Through our proprietary electrospinning process, we have added HA into our HealSmart dressings in a way that does not alter its beneficial absorption, hydration and oxygen permeability characteristics.”

“HealSmart’s personalized, direct-to-patient dressings ensure appropriate and consistent wound care treatment,” commented Cameron McKennitt, President and COO. “This innovative approach combines with our high performance materials platform to deliver results. Our customers’ data has consistently demonstrated more and faster wound healing versus existing standards of care, and we believe the addition of HA into our HealSmart dressings will further enhance these outcomes.”

HealSmart Personalized Antimicrobial Dressings with HA are available exclusively through PolyRemedy, Inc. and its direct-to-patient delivery model.
