UNION, N.J., Oct. 10, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- PLUS Diagnostics, a leading anatomic pathology company, announced today that it will open a laboratory in Houston, Texas. The new facility is expected to open at the end of this year. It will offer customized diagnostic testing and consultative services for the gastroenterology and urology specialties, with plans to expand into dermatology and women’s health.
The new laboratory is the third facility PLUS Diagnostics has built in the past two years to support rising demand for its specialty anatomic pathology services. The company unveiled a new facility in Union, New Jersey and opened its first West Coast lab in Irvine, California in 2009 to triple its overall laboratory capacity. Since partnering with Water Street Healthcare Partners, a strategic private equity firm focused exclusively on health care, PLUS Diagnostics has grown its customer base to increase its net revenues more than 500 percent.

With the addition of the Southwest laboratory, PLUS Diagnostics will process and analyze hundreds of the thousands of specimens annually on behalf of doctors and specialists across the country. The new lab will be fully integrated with the company’s other facilities. Dr. Adnan Savera, a nationally recognized pathologist who was appointed chief medical officer for PLUS Diagnostics earlier this year, will oversee all of PLUS Diagnostics’ laboratories and a team of more than 25 pathologists.
