The Environmental Protection Agency’s plan to remediate the American Cyanamid Superfund site at the eastern end of the township has the support of Pfizer, Inc., the company that now owns the 435-acre property. The plan, released on Feb. 16 by the EPA, is based on a feasibility study begun in 2004 by Wyeth Holdings Corp., a Pfizer subsidiary, and was paid for by Pfizer. The study and its findings were vetted at several points by the parent company, the EPA, the state Department of Environmental Protection and CRISIS, a grass roots advocacy group that is working under an EPA grant to follow the work on behalf of the local community.
