PerkinElmer, Inc. Announces Key Management Promotions

-- Robert F. Friel Appointed Vice Chairman and Elected to Board of Directors

BOSTON--Oct. 25, 2005--PerkinElmer, Inc. (NYSE: PKI) today announced its appointment of Robert F. Friel to Vice Chairman of the corporation. In addition, Mr. Friel will join the Company’s Board of Directors. The Company also announced today that it has appointed Jeffery D. Capello to Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer.

As Vice Chairman of the Company, Mr. Friel will direct corporate-wide operational improvement initiatives along with business development. From 1999, Mr. Friel has served as Senior Vice President and then subsequently Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer.

In his new role of Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, Mr. Capello will oversee the Company’s financial operations. Mr. Capello has served as the Company’s Vice President of Finance including corporate control and treasury since 2001.
