(Research Triangle Park, N.C.) Mustard Tree Instruments®, a leader in analytical instrumentation for the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry, has launched a YouTube channel, YouTube.com/MustardTreeTV, to shine the spotlight on quality control issues leading to drug recalls and shortages in the United States and new applications of existing technology which can help solve this devastating problem.
Additionally, the company has updated its seminal website, www.mustardtree.com, with new interactive features and information about its industry-renowned leadership team; at-line instrumentation products; and an overview of Raman spectroscopy.
“We’ve taken the complex science of Raman spectroscopy and applied it to solving a major problem in the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry,” CEO Todd Blonshine said.
“Raw material identity verification is required per good manufacturing practices. The steady increase in the importation of raw materials from non-USA sources as well as FDA oversight is putting more of a strain on quality control resources, which is where the application of Raman spectroscopy can make a difference” Blonshine explained. “Mustard Tree Raman spectroscopy is easy to use, non-destructive and only requires a low volume of material for testing with zero prep time.”
YouTube.com/MustardTreeTV Channel features a six-minute educational video hosted by Blonshine on the applications of Raman spectroscopy in the pharmaceutical manufacturing sector, using humor and even a little magic to break-down the technology in a way everyone can understand.
The four additional videos currently on the YouTube channel explain features of Mustard Tree’s VTT-1000 multi-variant testing device which utilizes highly accurate Raman spectroscopy to determine material identity and purity. Using a small yet powerful sensors and multi variant approach, the VTT-1000 determines each sample’s molecular fingerprint, which is matched in a matter of seconds against established data to detect any discrepancies in the material tested.
In addition to revamping www.mustardtree.com and launching its YouTube channel, Mustard Tree Instruments® senior leadership has been busy advocating on the subjects of Raman spectroscopy and drug shortages at industry events. Todd Blonshine recently addressed pharmaceutical and life sciences professionals at a well-attended Innovation in RTP event hosted by the Research Triangle Park (NC) Foundation, while Mustard Tree’s Science Officer Brisco Harward Ph.D. addressed members of the NY Section of the Society for Applied Spectroscopy.
The recent presentations and YouTube channel launch are a continuation of outreach efforts on behalf of Mustard Tree Instruments® to be at the forefront of the changing dynamics of pharmaceutical manufacturing industry which is seeing the highest number of product recalls in history, contributing ideas and solutions to help solve quality control issues.
