FARMINGTON, CT, May 2013 – Mott Corporation is proud to announce the development of their ground breaking, all-metal sterilizing grade membrane for medical filtration applications. The membrane is produced using nano-materials and a proprietary manufacturing process developed by Mott engineers. The membrane meets or exceeds a 0.2 µm filtration challenge and meets ASTM F838-05 for bacterial retention. This material is ideally suited for applications in medical, life sciences, biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries and can be used in implantable devices as well as for filtration of liquids or gases in which cleanliness and removal of bacteria is critical. It is also being used in various industry developments within aerospace and new energy research.

The filter is intended for circumstances requiring ultra-fine, sub-micron filtration. It is made of stainless steel or titanium and is capable of achieving extremely efficient levels of filtration and separation (> 7 LRV @ 0.2 micron).

Mott’s sterilizing grade filters offer a unique solution for industry devices that require a stronger, more durable and longer lasting product. It is biocompatible, impervious to solvents, and compatible with most organic compounds and complex drug chemistries.

Mott’s sintered porous metal products are currently being integrated in various implantable devices, as filters to prevent plugging of catheters, in drug delivery devices, in medical instrumentation, as bacteria filters, as sparging devices for cell culture processing, and as gas flow restrictor devices for gas delivery in life-critical systems. It has also been used to filter carrier gases and cryogenic fluids, as well as site markers used in the human body. Potential uses are countless and diverse. Each application has unique requirements and is reviewed by a specialized team of engineering and technical experts.

In addition, Mott’s porous metal products can be autoclaved, sterilized or completely recycled; an important attribute for maintaining cleanliness standards as well as conservation of resources, energy and space.

Established in 1959, Mott Corporation has long been dedicated to applying sintered porous metal technology to gas and liquid filtration and flow product concepts. Our products are used by customers worldwide in industries such as medical device, medical instrumentation, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, semiconductor, analytical instrumentation, aerospace, and chromatography just to name a few.
