Bedford, Massachusetts. 29 March 2012 - METTLER TOLEDO Process Analytics, a leading provider of analytical measurement solutions, announces the launch of the InPro 6860i, a series of dissolved oxygen (DO) sensors for the biopharma industry. InPro 6860i sensors combine a highly accurate and reliable optical measurement technique with automatic drift compensation and plug-and-measure installation.
Central to the operational benefits of the new sensors is METTLER TOLEDO’s Intelligent Sensor Management (ISM) concept, simplifying sensor handling and maintenance with advanced features not available on non-ISM sensors. ISM’s predictive diagnostics enable operators to determine easily lnPro 6860i sensors require maintenance before its next use. Sensors based on optical measurement are favored in biofermentation processes as they exhibit low drift. With the InPro 6860i, any drift that occurs is automatically compensated for by the ISM technology. These two features provide high measurement stability and assure batch-to-batch consistency maintenance.
For installation flexibility, InPro 6860i DO sensors output a digital signal for use with ISM transmitters and an analog (nA) signal for biocontrollers. Hygienic design requirements are addressed with a Teflon® coated and O-ring-free sensing element which resists biofouling and is easily cleaned.
“METTLER TOLDEDO’s new DO sensors offer unequalled performance and ease of handling,” says Jürgen Illerhaus, head of product management at METTLER TOLEDO Process Analytics .” Combined with the outstanding robustness and user friendliness of the sensor, we are able to meet the demanding process requirements from direct integration in bench top fermenters to validated production processes.”
