VANCOUVER, Canada, May 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Meditrac, a leading provider of innovative non-invasive medical devices for ambulatory treatment of spinal disorders, will be presenting its new “Traction on the Move” concept at the World Physical Therapy 2007 that will be held June 2-6 in Vancouver, Canada. The “Traction on the Move” concept was developed by Meditrac after intensive research that repeatedly demonstrated the effectiveness in treating chronic Low Back Pain (LBP), and neck pain combined with ambulatory traction and walking modality.
“Both our products, Vertetrac and the Cervico 2000, are designed with this concept in mind allowing a multidisciplinary approach, which combines traction with a dynamic rehabilitation program and physical activity during treatment,” explains Orit Grober, Meditrac’s founder and CEO. “The results speak for themselves- there is an increasing rate of success in the treatment of patients with LBP and chronic neck pain when treated with this approach.”
A recent study conducted at the Spine Unit of Assaf Harofeh Medical Center in Israel clearly indicates a significant improvement in LBP patients after using ambulatory traction combined with treadmill walking.
The study compared vertical ambulatory traction in 41 patients (group 1) to 35 patients treated by the same traction device (Vertetrac) combined with daily walking for 12 days and then 8 more sessions on alternating days (group 2). The pain score, lumber spine range of motion and satisfaction with treatment were examined ‘6 and 12 months following completion of treatment.
The results demonstrated improvement in pain score and range of motion at each follow up examination. The pain improvement in group 2 was significantly better than in group 1. One year after completion of treatment, 63% of the patients from group 1 and 78% of the patients from group 2 were satisfied with the results.
Vertetrac and Cervico 3D ambulatory traction products offer an effective and economical solution to treat LBP and neck pain in the clinic and at home. The products will be presented at the World Physical Therapy exhibition at Meditrac’s booth no. 1100 on June 2-6, Vancouver, Canada.
