WOODLAND HILLS, Calif., Dec. 17, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- GrowLife, Inc. (OTCBB: PHOT), a completely legal provider of highly effective indoor growing technologies to the blossoming marijuana industry, today commended President Barack Obama for his public remarks on ABC News. During an interview, the President indicated that recreational users of marijuana in states that have legalized the substance should not be the “top priority” of federal law enforcement officials prosecuting the war on drugs.
“It would not make sense for us to see a top priority as going after recreational users in states that have determined that it’s legal,” said President Obama, taking the same approach as he has in the past towards users of medical marijuana in states where it’s legal. This news bodes particularly well for a number public companies operating in the space; including GrowLife, Inc. (PHOT), HEMP Inc. (HEMP), Medical Marijuana Inc. (MJNA) and Rapid Fire Marketing Inc. (RFMK), as they have all positioned themselves to take advantage of today’s ‘green rush’.
Given the large support for legalization in the U.S., the President has a lot to gain from taking a more passive stance. A PPP poll released on December 4th used automated phone calls to survey over 1,000 voters and found that 58% of American voters think marijuana should be legal, compared to only 39% that believe it should be illegal. Democrats were the largest supporters with a 68% approval rate, while 61% of younger voters under 30 approved.
“President Obama has long opposed the legalization of marijuana, which led to concerns that the federal government would crack down on individuals in states where it has been legalized,” said GrowLife, Inc. CEO Sterling Scott. “The President’s public remarks last week have allayed many of these concerns for individuals and represents a very positive development for our company and our industry. While commercial growing operations may still be at risk, home users that legally grow their own marijuana are less likely to face prosecution.”
