Massachusetts Biotechnology Council, Inc. Releases Complete Guide to the New England Life Sciences Industry

WASHINGTON, DC and CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (June 27, 2011) – A new directory listing more than 1,000 biotechnology & life sciences companies throughout New England was released today at the 2011 BIO International Convention, the Massachusetts Biotechnology Council announced.

The Complete Guide to the New England Life Sciences Industry was compiled in partnership with Mass High Tech, to promote the scope of the industry in New England, and highlight the world class organizations doing business here.

“This directory makes clear something we have been saying for years—Massachusetts and New England is THE place for innovative research & development and the very best life science industry talent,” said Robert K. Coughlin, President & CEO of MassBio.

The directory provides contact information and company descriptions from more than 1,000 biotechnology and life sciences organizations as well as MassBio’s associate members, including service supplies and non-profit organizations that support the region’s biotechnology cluster. Company categories include agricultural/industrial biotechnology, bioinformatics, contract research & manufacturing, drug development, human diagnostic development, medical device, and research products & instrumentation.

“As the life sciences business becomes more and more specialized, business leaders need the tools and information to make sense of things,” said E. Douglas Banks, Publisher of Mass High Tech. “This guide is just such a tool—helping define the biotech and life sciences economy in this region.”

The Complete Guide to the New England Life Sciences Industry will be available at the MassBio booth (3419 – A) in the Massachusetts Pavilion at the 2011 BIO International Convention in Washington, DC, which runs today, June 27, through June 30 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center.

Following BIO, a copy of the directory will be mailed to every MassBio member organization. Additional copies or copies for non-members are available for purchase. The directory can also be purchased in an electronic format (Excel). To order, email communications@massbio.org.
