The United States Patents and Trademark Office (USPTO) recently issued the trademark to Lerner Medical Devices, Inc. for Personal Targeted Phototherapy®. Levia® Personal Targeted Phototherapy with Ultraviolet B (UVB) light is a safe and effective non-drug option for the self-treatment of psoriasis in the privacy and convenience of a patient’s home.
“Personal Targeted Phototherapy is a new class and unique treatment for psoriasis and we are pleased that this distinction has been recognized by the granting of a trademark,” said Zafiris Gourgouliatos, Ph.D., Chief Technology Officer, and Co-Founder.
Levia® Personal Targeted Phototherapy is purpose-designed to provide treatment of scalp and small area psoriasis flare-ups in the home environment, with physician control and oversight. Levia’s proprietary touch-screen user interface permits the patient to manage the delivery of a physician-prescribed treatment regimen with appropriate flexibility. Proprietary beam delivery attachments, Lite-Brush™ and Lite-Spot™, direct the UVB light to the affected areas of scalp and skin. This precise targeting minimizes exposure of uninvolved areas and facilitates controlled and rapid treatment.
Levia was introduced March 2010 at the 68th Annual Meeting of the American Academy of Dermatology, Miami, Florida and at the 28th Annual Convention of the Dermatology Nurses Association in Orlando, Florida.
