CARLSBAD, Calif., May 21 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Isis Pharmaceuticals, Inc. announced today that it has filed a registration statement on Form S-3 with the Securities and Exchange Commission relating to the registration of five million shares of Isis common stock that was purchased on February 4, 2008 by Genzyme Corporation from Isis pursuant to their stock purchase agreement entered into on January 7, 2008. This is a routine filing required by the contracts between the two companies. Genzyme is currently restricted from selling its Isis stock until the earlier of initial commercialization of mipomersen, termination of the mipomersen license or 4 years. The companies expect to complete the final collaboration contracts in the second quarter of this year.
