IDAHO FALLS, Idaho, Jan. 3 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- International Isotopes Inc. announces the completion of the construction and initial operational testing of its Fluorine Extraction Process (FEP) production plant.
Steve T. Laflin, President and CEO of the Company, said, “This is a state- of-the-art production facility with integrated process equipment and we have made every effort to ensure this plant will be able to economically produce ultra high purity fluoride gases in a safe, efficient, and environmentally friendly operation.”
In 2006, the Company will begin fluoride gas production and work towards providing qualification samples as necessary to obtain supply agreement contracts. In addition to the fluoride gases, the Company also believes there may be significant markets for the byproducts of the Fluorine Extraction Process such as depleted uranium oxides. Mr. Laflin said, “Markets for the byproducts of the FEP process could further enhance the overall economics of FEP production.” Laflin continued, “There is high probability there are many more technical challenges in front of us. However, the ultra high purity fluoride and depleted oxide products certainly create exciting revenue potential for INIS at this stage of our growth. We believe completion of the FEP plant construction is a significant milestone.”
The gas products produced through the Fluorine Extraction Process are ideally suited to specialty applications such as microelectronics and chemical vapor deposition processes where ultra high purity gases are required. In addition, the Company plans to research a host of additional potential strategic applications in areas such as pharmaceutical, energy propulsion, or agrochemical that could be enhanced by various fluorination reactions.
