Hypothermia Trial Yields Null Result in Brain Injuries, University of Texas Medical School Study

MedPage Today --A randomized clinical trial has found little benefit in hypothermia for traumatic brain injury, except perhaps in cases of surgical removal of hematomas. The study offers little basis for more testing of the idea that cooling acts as a neuroprotectant in cases of diffuse brain injury, according to Guy Clifton, MD, of the University of Texas Medical School in Houston, and colleagues.
