(South Florida Business Journal) -- With new product launches coming up, Home Diagnostics could receive up to $675,000 in public incentives to add 135 jobs to its Fort Lauderdale headquarters.
The Broward County Commission voted Feb. 26 to approve its $175,500 share of the job growth incentive deal. The city of Fort Lauderdale has already approved a deal that would give the diabetic testing supply manufacturer the same amount of incentives. The balance of the funds would come from the state’s Qualified Target Industries program.
Home Diagnostics (NASDAQ: HDIX) would create the 135 jobs over four years and must maintain each new employee for at least one year. The average salary must be at least $42,629.
Most of the jobs will be in manufacturing as the company prepares to launch a new blood glucose meter and its testing strips in the second half of this year, Home Diagnostics spokeswoman Sabrina Rios said. It will also need supporting positions, such as finance and marketing, she added.
