SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., March 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Hiemstra Product Development, an innovative, product design and development company, serving the life sciences industry, today announced the appointment of Robert C. (Bo) Glines as Director of Business Development. As the company continues to expand and broaden its capabilities, Mr. Glines ensures quality, customized programs for each client.
Mr. Glines joins Hiemstra with over 20 years of technical, marketing, and business savvy from his experiences with life science Fortune 500 companies including Johnson & Johnson, Medtronic and Boston Scientific, and start-ups, such as CardioThoracic Systems (CTSI), Microheart, Inc., and AngioSense, Inc. He was part of the original, early-stage R&D team at CTSI, where he helped invent the platform technologies and continued through the IPO (which was one of the fastest IPO’s of any medical device company). Mr. Glines co-founded Microheart, a needle-based drug delivery company, and founded AngioSense, a drug/device biotechnology venture in the field of gene therapy, where he raised an initial $4 million of financing. He has developed innovative medical technologies and worked with companies from inception to mature enterprises in clinical markets such as cardiac surgery, interventional cardiology, electrophysiology, gene therapy and drug delivery. Mr. Glines has 16 issued patents and numerous patent applications pending, and has coauthored several scientific and clinical publications.
“Today in the Med Tech sector, resource expansion is ‘red hot!’,” claims Glines. “Now with a 13485-certified clean room, our clients can leverage our infrastructure, experienced resources and CER to accelerate development of their products, from napkin sketch to commercialization.” With his intimate knowledge of the medical technology sector, Mr. Glines brings a unique, focused vision as the company expands further down the outsourcing value chain.
Doug Hiemstra, President, stated, “Having known Bo for over ten years, as an associate and client, we believe that he is a perfect fit in our rapidly expanding organization. His breadth of clinical and technical knowledge and life sciences experience make him an asset to the Hiemstra team.”
