LAKE FOREST, Calif., Jan. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- HemoCue AB, a privately held Swedish manufacturer of medical diagnostic systems and HemoCue, Inc. announced today that HemoCue, Inc. has sued Stanbio Laboratory, L.P., the United States distributor for German manufacturer EKF diagnostic GmbH, for violations of California’s Unfair Competition Law and Unfair Practices Act, as well as for tortious interference with contract, tortious interference with prospective business advantage, and trade libel.
The complaint was filed in the Orange County Superior Court and alleges that Stanbio is engaging in a pattern of unfair competition with the intent to harm HemoCue’s business. In particular, the complaint alleges that Stanbio has engaged in improper marketing promotions, which offer incentives to HemoCue distributors and customers to relinquish their HemoCue testing equipment. HemoCue believes that Stanbio’s actions are illegal and have the effect of undermining fair competition in the marketplace to the detriment of the consumer.
