November 12, 2012 – The Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association (HBA) Boston chapter is pleased to announce its receipt of the HBA 2012 Chapter Excellence award. This award recognizes an entire chapter board that has excelled in an area of chapter operations that exceeded the HBA’s membership and/or financial targets and the chapter’s own expectations.
The Boston chapter’s 2012 accomplishments that contributed to winning the award include:
• Achieved a strong operating efficiency
• Formalized local corporate outreach program and sponsorship program
• Instituted an official membership ambassador program within major area healthcare companies
• Excelled as chapter leader in areas of marketing innovation, consistency, social media, public relations and webpage
• Launched a flagship event, “Healthcare Forum: The Impact of Reform on Healthcare Innovation,” with more than 225 attendees
• Served more than 1,200 attendees by hosting 17 programs in 2012
• Started the year with 650 members and reached 725 to date (11% growth in 2012)
The Boston chapter is the third largest of 15 HBA chapters worldwide, all of which share best practices at the annual Leadership Institute, held this year in Orlando, Florida. For the 2012 Chapter Excellence Award, Boston excelled through its operating efficiency, increase and maintenance of membership, innovative programs, and impact on members. Some of the Boston chapter’s innovative programs include: the Ambassador program (Boston chapter is the first to formalize this corporate outreach program, which ensures that programs are meeting the needs of companies’ members and prospects), Women in Science, Mentoring, Leadership Success Series, and Executive Women’s Series.
Contributing to the Boston chapter winning the award was its recently-held inaugural signature event, the Healthcare Forum, in which high-profile speakers, all leaders in local healthcare institutions, discussed healthcare reform and innovation.
“I am thrilled that our chapter has won this award. Our standard is to provide value to our members in everything we do. The principles by which we measure our success are in retaining and increasing membership, as well as diversity to all sectors of healthcare,” said Keri Collette, president of HBA Boston chapter. “Winning this award is a validation of the hard work accomplished by the many volunteers and board members for the chapter.”
Other internal HBA honors include the Leadership Excellence and Dedication award (LEAD), given annually to an outstanding member who adds considerable value to the chapter. This year’s winner for the Boston chapter was Courtney Buzzell.
