GlaxoSmithKline sales representatives are demanding that the drugmaker reimburse them for bribes that were ordered by senior officials, Financial Times reported Wednesday. GlaxoSmithKline’s Chinese unit has been accused of “massive and systemic bribery” by Chinese authorities, while Great Britain’s Serious Fraud Office has initiated its own inquiry into the allegations. Specifically, the employees assert that the drugmaker has withheld bonuses, threatened dismissal or refused to reimburse bribes that were ordered by senior managers to boost sales.
