NEW YORK, April 21 /PRNewswire/ -- GenVault, a leading provider of room-temperature biosample transport, storage and management technologies, announced the release today of GenConnect 3.2, the newest version of its software for complete biosample management. Highlights of the release include a strategic licensing model that enables GenConnect to be integrated seamlessly into third-party informatics offerings, as well as a new customer licensing model that enables scalable enterprise-wide deployment that can be centrally administered.
GenConnect 3.2 supports the tracking of individual samples -- with either GenVault’s own GenTegra(TM) tubes for purified DNA stored at room temperature, or generic tubes and vials stored in the frozen state - throughout the storage, retrieval and transport lifecycle. All data associated with storage locations and samples can be batch-uploaded to the database with a single click, making GenConnect an ideal solution for enterprise sites that need to process thousands of sample aliquots per day.
“With its rich JAVA-based API, language-independent Web Services interface, and standardized flat-file import/export capabilities, GenConnect can be seamlessly integrated with any upstream or downstream informatics packages and databases. The latest example of this is the integration of GenConnect 3.2 to GenoLogics’ Biomedical Informatics product suite, as a part of our continuing partnership with GenoLogics to enable turnkey solutions for clinical and discovery research,” said Dr. Dipesh Risal, Senior Product Manager for Software at GenVault. “GenConnect’s client-server architecture allows for enterprise-level multi-site deployments, enabling both inter- and intra-institution connectivity; further, strict and tiered access controls built into the software means that entire networks of end-users can be administered from a centralized location. With this release, we are also rolling out a simple yet scalable licensing model that enables our customers to start small, with the option to scale-up and add more users as they derive greater value from the software.”
GenConnect can accommodate the full spectrum of storage units used in biobanking, from traditional containers such as freezers and liquid nitrogen tanks, to the space saving, energy-efficient room-temperature storage options provided by GenVault. Stringent QA controls are built into the software for all Project, Subject and Sample-level data entry.
