Genentech, Inc.: Updated Overall Survival Data From Pivotal Herceptin Adjuvant Studies in HER2-Positive Breast Cancer

CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Genentech, Inc. (NYSE:DNA) today announced updated results from a joint analysis of two Phase III clinical trials studying Herceptin® (trastuzumab) for the adjuvant treatment of HER2-positive breast cancer. Data presented at the 43rd Annual Meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) showed that, with median follow-up of nearly three years, the addition of Herceptin to standard adjuvant therapy significantly improved overall survival in women with HER2-positive, node-positive breast cancer, compared to patients who received standard adjuvant therapy alone. Herceptin (with chemotherapy) is the first and only HER2-targeted therapy to demonstrate an overall survival benefit in adjuvant breast cancer, based on these study results, and in first-line metastatic HER2-positive breast cancer.
