FUJIFILM VNA Customers Featured In Academy Case Studies And Fall CIO/CMIO Forums

STAMFORD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Health Management Academy (The Academy), a network comprised entirely of executive members from the country’s largest integrated health systems, recently featured two FUJIFILM Medical System’s U.S.A., Inc. (Fujifilm) Vendor Neutral Archive (VNA) customers in case studies regarding VNA implementation. Specifically, the case studies feature Indiana University Health (IU Health) and Duke Health and focus on each institution’s methods of adoption and integration of Fujifilm’s Synapse VNA system— highlighting challenges and considerations during the process as well as the means to achieving successful implementation.

“We are proud that Fujifilm has played an integral role in helping create overarching storage solutions to connect physicians to more of the patient imaging record, in minimizing inefficiencies, and in allowing for cost savings at many health systems including Indiana University Health and Duke Health,” said Bill Lacy, vice president of medical informatics at FUJIFILM Medical Systems U.S.A., Inc. “We are also pleased to see The Academy recognizes solutions to the obstacles health systems encounter through their rapid growth rates. Fujifilm’s VNA can help mitigate the operational silos and interoperability challenges that health systems often face through mergers, acquisitions and general growth.”

The Academy conducted a series of extensive and exploratory interviews at four leading health systems and examined the process and impact of implementing and utilizing a VNA at large integrated delivery networks. In addition, The Academy conducted site visits and interviews with C-suite executives and key stakeholders at two health systems, IU Health and Duke Health, that have successfully implemented VNA. The case studies identify successful methods of adoption and integration of a VNA, highlight the challenges and successes, and review the overall findings throughout IU Health and Duke Health’s VNA implementation.

The IU Health case study titled “Vendor Neutral Archives at Indiana University Health” will be presented at The Academy’s CMIO Fall Forum, October 7-9, 2017, in Park City, UT and at the CIO Fall Forum, November 6-8, 2017, in Laguna Beach, CA. Kenneth A. Buckwalter, MD, chief informatics and innovation officer at IU Health will present the case study at both events. During his podium presentation, Dr. Buckwalter will highlight IU Health’s recent experience with implementing a VNA in their health system, discuss the enterprise governance model that IU Health developed, and highlight some of the financial benefits that IU Health anticipates in the future from the implementation.
