Maryland awarded St. Louis-based Express Scripts Inc. a $2.4 billion contract today to manage its prescription drug program for its 200,000 employees, retirees and their dependents, the St. Louis Business Journal reports. The state Board of Public Works approved the deal after St. Louis-based Express Scripts had been in a nearly year-long battle with Rockville, Md.-based Catalyst Rx , the former drug provider for the state, over who would win the new contract.
