WILMINGTON, Del., Oct. 18 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- DuPont has been named one of the best employers in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry in the 2007 Science Magazine Top Employers survey.
This is the first DuPont appearance on the survey’s top 20 listing. The company’s number seven ranking places it ahead of other companies in the plant biotechnology industry. DuPont also was recognized for its efforts in the area of bio-based technologies.

Science’s annual survey of Top Employers polls employees in the biotechnology, biopharmaceutical, pharmaceutical and related industries. Respondents to the web-based survey are asked to rate companies on 23 characteristics. DuPont was recognized for doing important, quality research; having loyal employees; and being socially responsible. The 2007 results are based on 3,157 survey responses from readers of Science and other respondents in industry. Twenty-nine percent of the respondents came from outside the United States, primarily Western Europe, and 92 percent worked in private industry.
