(Nasdaq: CEMP), a clinical-stage pharmaceutical company focused on developing antibiotics to meet critical medical needs in the treatment of bacterial infectious diseases, today announced the pricing of its initial public offering of 8,400,000 shares of its common stock at a price to the public of $6.00 per share. Cempra also has granted the underwriters a 30-day option to purchase up to an additional 1,260,000 shares to cover over-allotments, if any.
Shares of Cempra’s common stock will trade on the NASDAQ Global Market under the symbol “CEMP” beginning on February 3, 2012. The closing of the offering is expected to occur on February 8, 2012, subject to the satisfaction of customary closing conditions.
Stifel Nicolaus Weisel, Leerink Swann LLC and Cowen and Company, LLC are serving as joint book-running managers for the offering. Needham & Company, LLC is acting as co-manager.
