South Florida Business Journal -- Boston Scientific Corp. has told the state it will let go 76 employees in a series of layoffs that will begin March 7. The medical products company, which has a 14-acre plant in Doral, said in late 2009 that it was relocating its operations to Costa Rica over the next three years.
The Natick, Mass.-based company (NYSE: BSX) operates out of a 350,606-square-foot facility at 8600 N.W. 41st St. in Doral. It said in the notice that the entire facility will eventually be shuttered.
Calls and e-mails to the company were not immediately returned.
Earlier this week, the company said it had completed the acquisition of Los Gatos, Calif.-based Sadra Medical. It paid $193 million to acquire the remaining 86 percent of Sadra Medical’s equity not already owned by Boston Scientific.
It also announced it completed the sale of its neurovascular business to Stryker Corp for $1.5 billion.
