BioInformatics LLC’s Dr. Tamara Zemlo Scheduled to Speak at the First Annual Consumer Genetics Show in Boston, MA on June 9, 2009

June 8, 2009 – Tamara Zemlo, Ph.D., MPH, Vice President of Advisory Services for BioInformatics, LLC (http://www.gene2drug.com) -- the leading market research and consulting firm serving the life science industry – will present key findings from BioInformatics’ upcoming report, Exploring the Epigenetics Market: Opportunities for Product Placement and Innovations, at the First Annual Consumer Genetics Show (http://www.consumergeneticsshow.com) in Boston, MA at the Hynes Convention Center on June 9, 2009.

The first conference of its kind, this event will showcase both genetic testing companies offering a wide variety of products, as well as the genetic tool companies that support this emerging health care specialty. As personal genetic testing becomes a more prevalent subject in the mainstream media, consumers have become increasingly fascinated with the idea, but remain confused as to which tests or services may best suit their needs. “This field is largely uncharted,” notes Dr. Zemlo. “The implications of consumers ordering genetic testing—without involving a physician—are vast, and this conference is the first of its kind to bring together the biotech, healthcare, diagnostic and legal pioneers in the emerging field of ‘personal genetics.’”

Based upon a survey of more than 300 scientists, Zemlo will present findings from a study that benchmarks the state of basic epigenetic research. Zemlo will provide a review of promising developments and discuss opportunities for the design and creation of new technologies to support epigenetics research. Other speakers at the Consumer Genetics Show include Francis S. Collins, MD, Ph.D., Former Director, National Human Genome Research Institute, David Ewing Duncan, Award-Winning Best-Selling Author, Director, Center for Life Science Policy, University of California, Berkeley, and Robert C. Green, MD, MPH, Professor of Neurology, Genetics and Epidemiology, Boston University Schools of Medicine and Public Health. For an admission fee of $15 USD per person, a total of 1,500 registrants from the genetic research community and the public will be allowed access to the exhibit hall.

Exhibitor and attendee registration forms, as well as more information about the First Annual Consumer Genetics Show, can be found at www.consumergeneticsshow.com.
