Southern California is one of the world’s most vibrant hubs for health IT and digital health advances, from EHRs to mobile health applications to genomic testing to remote patient monitoring,” said Joe Panetta, President and CEO of Biocom. “These technologies have proven to significantly improve the quality of health care, increase patient safety, and enhance the interaction between patients and physicians. We will continue to work to ensure that providers and patients benefit from the world’s greatest technologies.”

Biocom continues to engage with policymakers to promote the development of these new technologies. Most recently, Biocom participated in offering public comments for the 21st Century Cures Initiative, a Congressional enterprise that intends to boost our innovation ecosystem. The comments focus on digital health and highlight the important role of health IT and, more specifically, electronic health records (EHRs), in modernizing both the collection of clinical trial data and the delivery of care. “Our nation’s health IT industry has undergone tremendous growth these past decades and holds promise for revolutionizing the delivery of care as we know it,” added Panetta. “As the leading voice for the Southern California life science community, Biocom has worked tirelessly to help the industry grow and thrive. It is my great pleasure this week to celebrate an industry that has brought life-changing technologies to patients.”
