Vitex Provides Update On Merger Status

WATERTOWN, Mass., Oct. 29 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- V.I. Technologies, Inc. (“Vitex” or “the Company”), a biotechnology company dedicated to developing the next generation of anti-infective products, announced today that it adjourned its special meeting of shareholders which was being held to vote on proposals related to the Company’s proposed merger with Panacos Pharmaceuticals. A date to reconvene the special shareholders meeting has not been scheduled. Vitex reported that it is involved in negotiations with Panacos concerning modifications of the merger agreement. Until these merger-related terms are resolved, Vitex and Panacos have deferred consideration of financing proposals.
