MEMPHIS, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--StatLink® Systems, a Memphis-based process management company, has announced the purchase of AccuRead Endoscopy, a California-based capsule endoscopy reading company. Capsule endoscopy is a procedure during which a physician gives a patient a small pill that contains a small video camera that takes pictures of specific areas of the intestinal tract – particularly the small intestine, which isn’t easily reached with more traditional endoscopy procedures. As the capsule travels through the intestines, the camera takes thousands of pictures that are transmitted to a recorder worn on a belt around the waist. These images are stored and then processed for analysis, which allows precise treatment regimens to be instituted.
