Time is running out for medical device and medical device data system (MDDS) companies seeking to present at the Southeastern Medical Device Association’s 7th annual conference. The application deadline is this Wednesday, January 9, 2013.
“We are very excited about the quality of companies applying for this year’s conference,” said Angela Sinton, Chair of the Presenting Company Selection Committee. “As a result, we have added an additional session to allow investors a chance to see a larger number of emerging and expanding Southeastern companies. We are reminding companies seeking funding that there is still time to apply for this extra session.”
The Conference will be held February 19-20, 2013, at the Georgia Tech Global Learning Center in Atlanta. For an application, go to www.semda.net/pages/conference/presenting-companies.php. For last minute questions, send requests to admin@semda.net.
“SEMDA is where medical device executives and investors connect in the Southeast. And the SEMDA conference is where it all begins,” said Mark Gilreath, Founder and CEO of EndoChoice, Inc. Gilreath presented at the 2009 Conference, leading to initial funding for EndoChoice. On Friday, January 4, 2013, the company announced it had received additional funding of $43 million from Sequoia Capital and current investors.
There is no charge to apply to present, and the fee is only $750 for selected companies, which includes two Conference admissions. Each accepted company will have a mentoring team of industry experts that includes an industry investor and a CEO, plus experts in legal, commercialization and finance.
A new addition to this year’s program is the “Presenting Company in the SpotLight” award. The winner will be chosen by an independent panel of judges and announced at the end of the conference.
Selected companies will present to a diverse group of investors meeting a broad range of funding needs including seed and angel investors, venture capitalists, private equity and corporations focused on medical device and MDDS investment and new technology acquisition. The 2013 Conference will also feature informative programs, expert industry speakers, 1:1 partnering, a Gala Dinner and opportunities for attendees to make meaningful industry connections.
