NEW ORLEANS, May 23 /PRNewswire/ -- ReliaGene Technologies, a New Orleans based human identification testing and research laboratory, today announced an agreement with Hitachi Software Engineering America, Ltd. (HISAL) for the development of human identification kits on HISAL’s FMBIO(R) fluorescence imaging platform.
The first commercial product to be released under this agreement will be the Y-Detect screening system for the detection of male DNA in sexual assault and other forensic evidence samples. This proprietary ReliaGene DNA-based screening method is expected to provide increased accuracy and sensitivity over present screening methods, which are based on protein markers and microscopic examination of evidence material. Release of the Y-Detect screening system is expected in the fourth quarter of this year.
