Merge eFilm Releases FUSION PACS 1.2.7

MILWAUKEE, June 10 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Merge eFilm , a leading global healthcare software and services company, today announced the release of FUSION PACS version 1.2.7. FUSION PACS is an integrated repository of healthcare information and a suite of software application modules that provide PACS functionality and Web distribution all on a scalable integrated server platform. For physicians who refer patients for radiological studies, this enhanced version will provide improved Web-based accessibility to images and reports, and bring new image manipulation capabilities for referring physicians to utilize in patient care. FUSION PACS 1.2.7 provides referring physicians with secure access to new and historical images and reports via the web, and allows them to be viewed with a robust set of image manipulation tools similar to those in Merge eFilm’s market leading eFilm Workstation(TM) software, which is used by thousands of radiologists worldwide. These additional tools provide image manipulation capabilities for use by the referring physician, such as the measurement of a tumor size by a surgeon or analysis of a fracture repair by an orthopaedic surgeon, as well as use of the tools to manipulate images in explaining treatment plans to patients. FUSION PACS 1.2.7 is part of Merge eFilm’s FUSION RIS, PACS and RIS/PACS workflow solutions.

“FUSION PACS 1.2.7 brings a new level of information delivery and convenience to our referring physicians,” said Steve Fischer, CIO, Center for Diagnostic Imaging, a network of freestanding imaging centers throughout the U.S. “By incorporating FUSION PACS 1.2.7 into our CDI home page portal, our referring physicians will have one simplified centralized source to check patient status, retrieve the images and reports, and incorporate the information in the delivery of their care, accessible from whatever place is most convenient to them. This convenience brings significant medical practice benefits and productivity gains to our referrers.”

“The satisfaction of our referring physicians is a top priority for Clarendon Hospital,” said Steve Davis, Radiology Manager, Clarendon Memorial Hospital, Manning, SC. “By implementing FUSION PACS 1.2.7, reports and images will be more quickly available to them, and will allow them to utilize the images and information in the most clinically meaningful ways.”

FUSION PACS 1.2.7 includes an enhanced secure filtering capability that allows customers to manage multiple varied levels of access restrictions by referring physicians. This provides the flexibility to manage HIPAA compliance in the manner that best fits the customer’s organizational needs. In addition, advanced search capabilities have been added that allow clinicians to create very specific queries that reduce time spent searching for patient studies.

FUSION PACS 1.2.7 also addresses growing needs of Merge eFilm’s OEM customers with its Image Viewer Plug-in, enabling a third party to embed image and report viewing capabilities into their own solutions. “Healthcare’s drive toward an electronic medical record makes provision of appropriate images and reports to the physicians’ desktop highly desirable,” said William Stafford, Merge eFilm’s Executive Vice President, International and OEM Operations. “With FUSION PACS 1.2.7, an OEM can implement this capability into its existing IS and IT frameworks, improving speed to market by minimizing the necessity for architectural changes to existing applications.”

“The release of FUSION PACS 1.2.7 represents a new milestone in meeting the needs of our customers’ referring physicians,” said Richard Linden, President and CEO of Merge eFilm. “We will continue to design and develop clinically focused solutions that integrate new ways of accelerating workflow with innovative technological approaches, with a focus on an attractive value proposition to our customers.”
