Meiji Seika Kaisha announced on March 26 the discovery of a preventive effect of compound drug made of antioxidant substance and oligosaccharide. A recent study conducted by the company’s research institute indicates that the health conditions (antioxidant functions, immunological competence and intestinal bacterial flora) of male smokers in middle age can be improved by use of the compound drug. Detailed study results will be presented at the 124th Annual Meeting of the Pharmaceutical Society of Japan held in Osaka.
