BUFFALO, N.Y. (October 07, 2015) --- MEDTECH 2015, the largest gathering of executives and senior leaders from New York State’s bioscience and medical technology (Bio/Med) industries, will be taking place Oct. 14 and 15 at HARBORCENTER. More than 350 Bio/Med professionals will be traveling to downtown Buffalo to take part in innovative education sessions, focusing on the hottest trends in the industry.
“This year’s annual conference is on track to perhaps be the best yet,” said MedTech President Jessica Crawford. “With the help of HARBORCENTER’s one-of-a-kind facilities, MEDTECH 2015 will certainly break the barriers of a traditional conference and will help build momentum in the Bio/Med industry in Buffalo, New York State, and the country as a whole.”
MedTech had selected Buffalo, NY as host of its premier event for several reasons, including the exciting new investments in the city’s downtown core, which have infused the area with activity from Bio/Med players on a global scale. The goal of MEDTECH 2015 is to provide unparalleled educational opportunities, while fostering invaluable network connections among attendees.
By taking place at HARBORCENTER, MEDTECH 2015 will be hosted in one of the centerpiece projects of Buffalo’s resurgence, which has seen more than $5 billion committed to economic development. HARBORCENTER fully opened in August 2015 after a three-year construction process that totaled more than $200 million. In addition to a 205-room, full-service Marriott Hotel, the 650,000 square foot facility features two NHL-size hockey rinks, an elite training facility, two-story (716) Food and Sport restaurant, Tim Hortons Café & Bake Shop, boutique retail shops, and a 750-space parking ramp. The complex is connected to First Niagara Center, home of the NHL’s Buffalo Sabres, by a pedestrian bridge. MEDTECH 2015 will utilize many of the HARBORCENTER and First Niagara Center entities. Because of the unique connectivity of the facilities, attendees will be able to walk to each conference event without being exposed to weather elements. The opening and closing keynotes will take place at First Niagara Center’s Lexus Club, which is accessible from the HARBORCENTER parking ramp on level three. The Marriott will host the programmatic tracks throughout the event. The mid-conference keynote will take place at (716) Food and Sport, providing an exciting experience with the restaurant’s 38-foot video screen and a live video feed projected to the venue’s more than 70 TVs. Guest elevators connect the restaurant (level two) to the hotel lobby, which is located on level seven. The Tech Showcase exhibits will be set up on level seven, utilizing the facility’s two hockey rinks.
Because of the excitement around the new venue and resurgence in the Bio/Med industry in Western New York, MEDTECH 2015 is expected to sell out. Currently, 50 tickets are still available until October 9 at 5 pm at www.medtech.org/medtech2015. MEDTECH 2015 is sponsored by AMRI, First Niagara Risk Management, Welch Allyn, Baxter, ConMed, Corning and Thermo Fisher Scientific.
