ATLANTA, Oct. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Vystar Corporation has named J. Douglas Craft, chief executive officer of Atlanta-based Medicraft Inc., to its newly expanded board of directors. Atlanta-based Vystar is the developer of the revolutionary new Vytex(TM) natural rubber latex (NRL) produced through a proprietary process that deactivates antigenic proteins in latex.
"With more than 22 years experience in the medical device arena, Doug brings a unique and valuable perspective to Vystar's interaction with hospitals and physicians as we continue to roll out Vytex, the new safe latex," Vystar Board Chairman Travis Honeycutt said. "Doug's technical background will be key as we position the Vytex technology in heath care, para-health care and other industries."
In addition to serving on the Vystar board, Craft is one of the original Vystar investors. He holds a biomedical engineering degree from Mississippi State University and resides in Atlanta, Georgia. Medicraft, which he founded in 1984, is one of the largest independent distributors for Medtronic Spinal worldwide.
In making the Craft announcement, Honeycutt noted Vystar is building its board strength. Both he and Vystar President William Doyle are charter board members.
Honeycutt, the Georgia Institute of Technology-educated inventor of Vytex NRL, has more than 100 patents and 30-plus years experience in new business and technical development in industrial and health care markets. A founder and former director and executive vice president of Isolyser Company Inc. (now Microtek Medical Holdings), he has received several awards for his entrepreneurial success.
Doyle, formerly vice president of marketing, Women's Health for Matria Healthcare, Inc., has, for more than 20 years, worked in health care manufacturing, sales, marketing and advertising for companies such as Isolyser, McGaw, Lederle (now Wyeth), and Novartis Ophthalmics. A member of the Board of Directors of the Georgia March of Dimes, he holds a Master of Business Administration from Pepperdine University
Vystar is currently closing out second round funding and recently announced that Revertex Malaysia, the world's largest producer of prevulcanized rubber lattices and post vulcanizable latex compounds, will be the first to produce Vytex NRL.
