John Ratliff Appointed Chief Operating Officer Of Quintiles Transnational

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C., Oct. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Quintiles Transnational Corp. today announced that John Ratliff has been appointed as its new Chief Operating Officer, effective immediately. He will be responsible for directing Quintiles’ daily global operations and will report to Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Dennis Gillings, CBE. Ratliff also has been elected to the Quintiles Transnational Corp. Board of Directors.

Prior to his appointment as COO, Ratliff had been Quintiles Transnational’s Chief Financial Officer, the position he had held since joining the company in 2004. He previously had served as CFO at Acterna. Prior to that he had a 19-year career at IBM, most recently as Vice President for Finance and Planning, PC Company. Ratliff received his bachelor’s degree in industrial and systems engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta and his master’s degree in business administration from Duke University in Durham, N.C.

While a search is under way for a new CFO, Ratliff’s previous responsibilities will be assumed temporarily by Mike Troullis, Senior Vice President, Worldwide Controller, Quintiles Transnational, reporting to Gillings. Troullis is qualified as a United Kingdom chartered accountant, and has more than 14 years’ service at Quintiles in both Europe and the United States.
