Mr. Sweeney has been founder and CEO of eight healthcare service companies including Bridge Medical, the pioneer of bedside barcode scanning for medication administration, and CardioNet (BEAT), the highly successful developer and marketer of Mobile Cardiac Outpatient Telemetry, a technology and service that allows physicians to continuously monitor cardiac activity as patients go about their normal daily activities.
While Mr. Sweeney was Chairman and CEO of Bridge Medical, the company produced “Beyond Blame,” an award-winning documentary - highlighting medication administration process flows, their root causes and the human consequences of these errors on patients, families, and caregivers.
A new vision: Constantly evolving, patient-centered, actionable intelligence
Mr. Sweeney has been involved in and started many companies that have permanently changed the way healthcare is delivered. With Caremark, he is credited with founding the home IV therapy industry that made it possible for patients to receive intravenous therapy at home rather than in the hospital. Another venture, CarePartners, pioneered early discharge and family support services for premature infants. In his most recent success, Mr. Sweeney’s CardioNet technology has been proven three times more effective than conventional monitoring in identifying potentially life-threatening cardiac arrhythmias.
