NEW YORK, Nov. 4 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Ramp Corporation today announced that its HealthRamp subsidiary has entered into an agreement with the LDM Group to offer a compliance program to pharmaceutical companies targeted at increasing treatment compliance among their patients. Traditionally, such compliance programs have been executed using several methodologies including direct mail, Internet, and retail pharmacy. Utilizing HealthRamp’s CarePoint electronic prescribing technology, HealthRamp and LDM are seeking to dramatically increase the efficacy of these already effective programs by focusing on delivering such information at the point-of-care. Under the agreement, HealthRamp and LDM will share fees paid by pharmaceutical companies for each brand included in this compliance program. The LDM Group specializes in program design, management and marketing for pharmaceutical companies and manufacturers of over-the-counter medications. HealthRamp develops and markets the CarePoint suite of technologies, which enables electronic prescribing, lab results, Internet-based communication, data integration, and transaction processing over a handheld device or browser, at the point-of-care.
Studies have shown that 80% of patients forget what their physician tells them regarding how best to take their medications and 50% of what patients recall is incorrect. Many pharmaceutical companies deliver educational materials to patients, with such information dispensed at the pharmacy when the prescription is filled. However, a large percentage of patients are non-compliant and do not go to the pharmacy to have their prescriptions filled, limiting the effectiveness of such compliance programs. The solution is to provide printed brand-specific educational materials to patients at the point-of-care, increasing the perceived value of the information and ultimately its effectiveness. Several pharmaceutical brands have already recognized the advantages of supplying educational materials to patients at the point-of-care and participation in the program is expected to include prominent pharmaceutical companies.
“We are excited to partner with HealthRamp for the purpose of improving patient care through compliance. HealthRamp’s CarePoint is designed from the ground up with the sophistication and flexibility required to support effortless implementations and a successful pharmaceutical compliance program,” said David Christenson, LDM Group Senior Vice President. “We believe that the combination of our respective capabilities will yield increased fulfillment of initial scripts and bolster ongoing compliance for patients. Major pharmaceutical companies share our excitement and will be key contributors in supporting our partnership,” concluded Christenson.
“Improving initial and maintenance compliance with respect to medication therapies benefits patients, and should aid in driving down healthcare costs over time. The LDM Group’s pharmaceutical industry expertise in developing successful compliance programs, combined with our point-of-care technologies, makes this an ideal partnership for both companies,” stated Andrew Brown, Ramp CEO and President. “We are eager to begin deploying this compliance program to our growing installed base of physicians. Pharmaceutical companies, and others seeking to interact with physicians in their daily professional lives, are finding that point-of-care technologies offer a unique and powerful way for them to do so. This compliance program is a wonderful example of the kinds of benefits that healthcare as a whole can derive from effectively utilized point-of-care technologies such as CarePoint,” concluded Brown.
The LDM Group specializes in program design, management and marketing for pharmaceutical companies and OTC manufacturers. The LDM Group’s principals have over 75 years of combined experience developing profitable business relationships with pharmaceutical companies and OTC manufacturers.
