BEAUMONT, Texas, Nov. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Eastex Sleep Solutions (http://www.eastexsleep.com/) located at 4037 Eastex Freeway has announced it is introducing the first biological assessment tool for AD/HD in the Beaumont area. The DataLex Indicator Report(SM) for AD/HD uses brainwave technology to finally help answer the question, “Does my child have attention deficit disorder?”
AD/HD is a disorder of the brain associated with lack of impulse control, inattention and other behavior problems. It affects an estimated 7 to 10 percent of school-age children and an estimated 4 percent of all adults.
“The DataLex(SM) report is an important addition to our facility,” said Jamie Fountain, Clinical Director of Eastex Sleep Solutions. “This allows us to finally provide the community with a tool that helps confirm or deny attention deficit disorder.”
Eastex Sleep Solutions provides AD/HD assessments during the day and sleep disorder assessments at night. The AD/HD assessment performed at the center includes several indicators: the DataLex Indicator Report(SM), patient history and medical examination. Parents and patients are assured a more accurate assessment of AD/HD when the results are combined with a physician’s expert evaluation.
AD/HD controversies abound. The DataLex Indicator Report(SM) is designed to aid a physician in identifying those with AD/HD and can help rule out the disorder in many other cases, putting to rest arguments about over- or under-diagnosis and unnecessary or ineffective medication. This distinct data analysis service uses patient brain wave data collected from non-invasive, quantitative electroencephalogram (qEEG) technology. The report is based upon scientific research that shows AD/HD patients have distinct brain activity patterns compared to the general population and these indicators can be used to classify those with AD/HD to an accuracy of 90 percent and identify those who do not have AD/HD to an accuracy of 94 percent.
Data is collected using a sensor-filled cap to measure the electrical patterns of the brain and takes about an hour to complete. Once collected, the qEEG data is sent to Lexicor for analysis and a DataLex report is generated. The report is an evaluation aid for physicians -- not a specific diagnostic test.
The DataLex(SM) report is covered by most insurance companies and is currently offered at Eastex Sleep Solutions. To make an appointment or for more information, call 409-892-8303.
