DALLAS, July 25 /PRNewswire/ -- IMACS (Innovative Managed Care Systems, Ltd.) announced today that Duke University Health System (DUHS) recovered $4.5 million in managed care underpayments in just one year and successfully defended another $1 million in managed care refund requests using IMACS products and services.
IMACS is used at Duke Hospital, Durham Regional Hospital, Duke Health Raleigh Hospital and Duke's Private Diagnostic Center, PLLC.
"We use IMACS to accurately track payments and contracted variances," said Cecelia Moore, chief operating officer of DUHS's Patient Revenue Management Organization. "It's like a barometer for reporting, and we use it to improve customer service, identify registration and billing issues and to ensure accurate posting of contractual adjustments."
The $4.5 million in underpayments was collected during fiscal year 2005, which began July 1, 2004, and ended June 30, 2005. "Clearly, IMACS has had significant impact on Duke University Health System's economic health," said Moore.
In addition, Duke expanded its relationship with IMACS this year to defend refund requests based on contractual payment differences. "Using IMACS, we were able to successfully defend approximately $1 million in managed care refund requests," Moore stated.
IMACS and DUHS recently renewed their contract for FY 2006.
