EDISON, N.J., Feb. 23 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Ross University, one of the world’s largest providers of medical and veterinary education, announced that Nancy A. Perri, M.D., has been named vice president of academic affairs. For the past 12 years Dr. Perri, one of Ross University School of Medicine’s first graduates, has served and will continue to serve as dean of clinical sciences for the medical school.
Having been a pioneer in the creation of Ross’ clinical department, Dr. Perri now will oversee accreditation, licensure and regulatory affairs activities conducted in the United States for the medical and veterinary schools.

Keller, acting president of Ross University. “As dean of clinical education, she has been a guiding force in the development of our outstanding academic programs, and we are confident that she will be equally invaluable to Ross in her new role.”
Dr. Perri’s academic experience includes teaching at Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, N.Y., in the Department of Renal Diseases as a preceptor for Introduction to Clinical Medicine and as a faculty preceptor in Clinical Medicine and Nephrology. Her professional committee assignments have included seats on St. Elizabeth’s Hospital residency review and ethics committees. She is also a member of the admissions committee for Ross University School of Medicine and a member of Ross University’s executive committee.
Dr. Perri was a member of Ross University’s first graduating class, receiving her M.D. degree cum laude in 1982. She earned a bachelor of science degree from St. Peter’s College in 1978.
Dr. Perri’s post-graduate education included residency training in the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey’s St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, where she was appointed chief medical resident, becoming one of the first Ross graduates to achieve this distinction. Dr. Perri also was awarded a fellowship in the Division of Renal Diseases at the State University of New York (SUNY) Hospital/Health & Science Center and completed a post-doctoral program in transplant nephrology in the Department of Cell Physiology/Immunology at SUNY Downstate.
Dr. Perri’s principal areas of research and publications have included post-doctoral work at SUNY Downstate’s Department of Immunology and a collaborative research project involving patients with systemic lupus erythematosus in the Department of Transplant Surgery, among others. Dr. Perri has also researched rehabilitation by hemodialysis in diabetic nephropathy under supervision of Eli A. Friedman, M.D. While at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, she conducted research on peritoneal dialysis in collaboration with the Department of Renal Diseases at Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C.
