“We are very fortunate to have someone with Dr. Cutler’s skills and dedication already within the IPC family and ready to move into the important regional role,” said IPC Chief Medical Officer, Mary Jo Gorman, M.D. “We know he will continue to make an enormous contribution both to IPC and to the growing field of hospitalists as we help define a specialty that is driving the delivery system toward better, more patient-focused care.”
Board certified in internal medicine, Dr. Cutler joined IPC in 2000 and currently cares for patients at Banner Thunderbird and Maryvale Hospitals in Phoenix. He received his undergraduate degree and medical degree from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and completed his internship and residency at Wright-Patterson Medical Center Air Force Base (AFB) in Ohio. Dr. Cutler has served as chief of internal medicine for the 51st Medical Group at Osan AFB in Korea and as a member of the internal medicine staff with the 56th Medical Operations Squadron at Luke AFB in Arizona.
Dr. Gorman says that the addition of Dr. Cutler to IPC’s medical leadership team “is driven by the company’s record-setting growth.” Within the past 18 months alone, IPC has entered into six new markets -- Charlotte, Corpus Christi, Jacksonville, Las Vegas, Oklahoma City and Tampa -- and now employs more than 300 physicians in 16 markets nationwide. Dr. Teresa Jones, who as IPC’s medical director has been responsible for Arizona, will transition to focusing her time on her two other locations -- California’s Bay Area and Las Vegas -- and will work with IPC medical leadership on other corporate projects.
Hospitalists, the nation’s fastest-growing medical specialty, are acute-care specialists who focus on a patient’s hospital care from time of admission to discharge. Increased evidence has shown that hospitalists improve quality of care and reduce healthcare costs while providing patients and their families the added comfort and security of having a physician on-site to answer questions and coordinate all of the tests, treatments and services that take place within the hospital.
IPC, the nation’s premier hospitalist company, collectively has more than one million patient encounters annually and manages more than $1 billion in healthcare expenditures each year. The company’s consulting services division helps hospitals and other healthcare organizations launch new hospitalist programs or enhance existing ones.
