WARRENDALE, Pa., May 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Diagnostix LLC, a new data services company serving the U.S. health care industry, has named Mary Beth Lang as its first chief executive officer.
Lang comes to Diagnostix from Amerinet Central, based in Warrendale, Pa., where she was vice president for market segments and education services. Along with Intermountain Health Care and Vector, Amerinet Central is part of Amerinet Inc’s. group purchasing organization.
“Mary Beth’s knowledge and experience, working at a large integrated delivery network and at Amerinet on the group purchasing side of the business, make her the ideal person to spearhead this promising new business venture,” said Bill Prows, a vice president at Intermountain Health Care and current chairman of Amerinet, St. Louis, Mo.
Diagnostix is owned jointly by Amerinet Central, Intermountain Health Care and Vector, three health care partners that comprise Amerinet, a group purchasing organization with more than 20,000 members nationwide. Diagnostix and Amerinet share ownership but will be operated as separate companies, Prows said. Because of the growing need for data management in the health care industry, Diagnostix will offer data services and analysis to all health care organizations, including those outside Amerinet’s membership.
“Health care providers face decreases in reimbursements, increases in salaries and benefits, facility upgrades and new technology demands. The best opportunity to fund these new expenses is to focus on reducing supply chain costs. Unfortunately, providers do not always have clean and accurate supply expense data for contract management and product selection,” Lang said.
“I am confident that Diagnostix will bring tools and executable solutions that provide significant cost savings to all of our clients for both commodity and physician preference products,” she said
Lang has been a member of the Amerinet Central management team since 1998. As vice president for market segments and education services, a position she had held since July 2002, Lang was responsible for all sales activity in group purchasing, education and meeting management. Her staff of 43 accounted for about 90 percent of Amerinet Central’s annual revenue. She led significant market growth through new and renewed integrated delivery network memberships and new affiliate contracts representing more than $1.2 billion in annual sales.
Before joining Amerinet Central, Lang was manager of pharmacy operations and automation for the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. She holds a bachelor’s degree in pharmacy from the University of Pittsburgh and a master’s degree in public policy and management in health care from the Heinz School at Carnegie Mellon University. She is an instructor in the University of Pittsburgh’s School of Pharmacy.
