Boston, June 24, 2013—At the Drug Information Association (DIA) annual meeting, Datatrial Chief Executive Officer Emma Banks, PhD, announced that the eClinical solutions company will become the first Microsoft partner to run a fully validated electronic data capture (EDC) system on Windows Azure. Both companies are in attendance at DIA in Boston on June 24-27 to demonstrate how the Windows Azure platform hosts the nowEDC system in the cloud.
Datatrial will make full use of Windows Azure’s configurability to limit costs for customers using their nowEDC system. The infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) approach will give Datatrial control over the setup and configuration of the system, as well as the installation of nowEDC.
“Windows Azure gives us the ability to deliver a cost-effective and scalable hosting solution to our customers, who will love the resilience of service and myriad of options when it comes to geographic location,” said Dr. Banks. “We also appreciate the capacity that Windows Azure offers for expansion and contraction as projects start and stop.”
As a cloud platform, Windows Azure allows for the quick building, deployment and management of applications across a global network of Microsoft-managed data centers. The platform supports the deployment and integration of systems built on multiple core frameworks and languages, and it is fully compliant with all the relevant industry regulations. In addition, the Microsoft infrastructure ensures a dependable approach to high availability, disaster recovery and backup management.
